Since 1946, the National Trust has owned Clumber Park, which used to be the seat of the Dukes of Newcastle. However, the Duke abandoned the property in the early 20th century. The estate is composed of parkland, woods, and farmland, and it is over 3,800 acres in size.
The house was demolished after a fire in 1938, but many outbuildings remain, including a cathedral-like Gothic Revival chapel, garages, a stable yard, and decorative entrance lodges.
